Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens Confirm Plans to Start a Family

Simone Biles is riding the waves of her success at the Paris 2024 Olympics, having secured a new record and four new medals. But it hasn’t stopped her from thinking about motherhood.

The gold medalist, 27, confirmed in an interview with Today that she and her husband, Jonathan Owens, intend to start a family. She told Hoda Kotb, “Me and Jonathan always talk about kids, and he would have had them yesterday if he could have. Obviously, we both have goals that we want to achieve before we start a family. But yes, that’s definitely in our future.”

When Kotb asked if Biles could see herself as a mother one day, the gymnast immediately responded, “Yes, most definitely.”

In last week’s issue of People, Owens, who married Biles in 2023, also opened up about becoming a dad. When asked if he intends to have children with his wife, he said, “In the future, man. For sure.”

The NFL player also revealed that he would support his kids’ endeavors, whether they followed in their parents’ footsteps or not. He explained, “If that’s what they want to do, I’m not going to try to force anything on them. Obviously, they’re going to know what their parents did, so that’ll be just something cool for them to look at and for us to be able to relive those stories and memories with them.”

Owens added, “She’s big on taking pictures and we’ll have stuff framed up for them. But honestly, whatever they want to do, I’ll just support them a hundred percent. I don’t want to force ’em and make it feel like you have to do this because we did. That does generally work out for kids.”

Owens and Biles tied the knot in Houston, Texas in April 2023, then held a second destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico with close family and friends. To mark their one-year anniversary, Biles shared a tribute on Instagram and wrote, “Happy first anniversary. I’m excited for many more to come. I wish I could marry you a million times more! I love you so much!”
