Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s blossoming relationship has made headlines across the world since the superstar pair began dating in late summer 2023.

The couple took a big step in their romance over Easter weekend 2024, with Travis reportedly introducing his three nieces to Swift in Pennsylvania.

However, a viral TikTok dropped on April Fool’s Day mentioning a “Travis Kelce cheating scandal” appears to have left some Swift fans bemused.

A TikTok by user xtra_abigator, posted on April 1, 2024, viewed 686,200 times, included the title “Alleged Travis Kelce Cheating on Taylor Swift Allegations ???? This has to be a joke💀” and the heading “Travis Kelce cheating scandal this has to be a joke right.”

In the post, user xtra_abigator referred to another TikTok by influencer Mikey Angelo, also posted on April 1, 2024, viewed 19 million times, in which he said in March: “Travis Kelce cheating scandal [was] just announced.”

“If this man was to cheat on Taylor Swift, like, I don’t think he would recover. I don’t think that he would be able to show his face in the media ever again,” xtra_abigator said.

“Like great that he bought a new, whatever, mansion so they could, like, hang out together.

“Like this has to be a joke. I love them together, I ride or die with them together, but like him doing her wrong, that’s crazy. That cannot be true.

“That has to be a prank. I don’t know man. I was like looking on the TikToks, like on the… like the featured ones too and um, it just looks like TMZ reports, has to be fake, fake news.

“Not a happy April Fool’s joke, not funny.”

The instinct that the claim is an April Fool’s joke appears to be right, but it needs some unpacking first.

To start, there were and have been no “cheating scandal” announcements. There are no reports from TMZ or other gossip sites. Only this week, Kelce told People magazine that he was the “happiest I’ve ever been.”

There simply are no reports, credible or otherwise, of infidelity.

The Mikey Angelo video with the claim was posted on April Fool’s Day, part of a series Angelo produces highlighting news stories throughout the year.

Most of the events in Angelo’s April 1 video were based on genuine news stories apart from the “cheating scandal,” which was the last to be featured. He also mentioned “7-Eleven Hot Dog Flavor Water,” referring to a joke story 7-Eleven released ahead of April Fool’s.

Whatever the purpose of mentioning a “cheating scandal,” there is no credible evidence to support it and it appears to have been meant, for all intents and purposes, as a joke.

A representative for Angelo told Newsweek that the claim was intended as an April Fool’s joke. Newsweek has contacted a representative for Swift via email for comment.

In a recent episode of his podcast, Travis Kelce appeared to subtly hint at the future of his relationship with Swift by dropping a potential baby name.
