Over the years, Patrick Mahomes has cemented himself as arguably the best player in the NFL, even without a top-tier receiver.

Ever since Patrick Mahomes took over from Alex Smith as the #1 quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs, he has been the best player in the NFL. If anyone goes through the quality of receivers, he has had over the years, it only solidifies the Mahomes being the best QB in the current times.

Mahomes still went on to win three Super Bowls, was pronounced Super Bowl MVP three times, and was twice voted the NFL MVP. He is now on the cusp of an elusive three-peat, and by completing it, he will, without a doubt, distance himself from several great players in the GOAT (greatest of all time) conversation.

Why did Danica Patrick break up with Aaron Rodgers? 💔 #danicapatrick #aaronrodgers

FOX Sports analyst Colin Cowherd recently broke down the secret behind Mahomes’ success despite not playing with elite receivers.

Kansas City, their wide receiver position is a hazmat spill. It's incredible. Rashee Rice is a disaster off the field. Kadarius Toney—they don’t trust him. I mean, he has been like a DNP—too immature. Skyy Moore [is] semi bust…Thank God Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes are resourceful. They are well-run. They have struggled at wide receivers—this is how great [Patrick] Mahomes is.

Colin Cowherd said via ‘The Herd’Cowherd mentioned the player whom Mahomes often gets compared for the GOAT quarterback debate and their receiver partners. Tom Brady had Randy Moss in New England and then Rob GronkowskiAntonio Brown, and Mile Evans in Tampa Bay, contrary to Mahomes, whose best receiver in the past two seasons has been tight end Travis Kelce.

It’s like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. Doesn’t really matter about the plot [or] the supporting cast, he’ll take a motorcycle off a cliff, parachute save the day.

Patrick Mahomes hopes for Marquise Brown’s speedy recovery

After witnessing the dwindling receiver core, head coach Andy Reid and general manager Brett Veach went shopping and brought in former Cardinals and Ravens wideout Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown. The former Sooners player made headlines during the offseason, garnering much praise from his peers.

The Chiefs expected him to be the #2 receiver behind Rashee Rice, who may miss the first few games. However, Brown suffered an injury, which will keep him out for some time. Fortunately, for Mahomes and Co., the injury isn’t as serious as initially perceived.

We’re lucky that it wasn’t as bad as it could have been. We lose a little bit of that veteran-type receiver in that room [but] we have other guys that can replace him [a little bit], but to have that much talent and have a good understanding of what I want… hopefully, we’re getting him back sooner rather than later.
