Can we stop arguing now?
Simone Biles is the GOAT (Greatest of All Time) when it comes to gymnastics, despite some corners of the internet that argue otherwise. All you need to do is look at how many Olympic medals she’s won to see that those nay-sayers literally have no leg to stand on.
Born on March 14, 1997, in Columbus, Ohio, Biles began competing in gymnastics at a young age. She first gained international attention at the 2013 World Championships, where she won her first World All-Around title.
“Being in a good mental spot, seeing my therapist every Thursday is kind of religious for me. So that’s why I’m here today,” she said in an interview with NBC News in July 2024. Biles prematurely pulled out of the Tokyo Olympics due to the “twisties”—a condition which the Cleveland Clinic describes the twisties as “a mental block that creates a dangerous disconnect between mind and body while gymnasts are airborne.”
That certainly hasn’t deterred her and after her performance at the Paris Olympics in 2024, Biles cemented herself among some of the United States’ greatest athletes. In addition to her Olympic medals, Biles has won 30 World Championships, making her the most gymnast in history.
