Patrick Mahomes is already a legend and a Hall of Famer for Texas Tech, and he continues to make headwaves for his alma mater. After contributing a large amount to increase the budget of the college’s infrastructure, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback also made lives better for six of the current athletes by signing new NIL deals.

Mahomes kicked off the new era at Texas Tech by reaching an agreement to change the Red Raiders’ sponsors to Adidas. The 28-year-old announced a 10-year deal with sports apparel juggernauts shortly after launching his own shoe and clothing line.

I’m excited for the future with Adidas, with Texas Tech, and the Mahomes brand. Let’s keep being great every single day. Let’s make our stamp on the nation with how great a university this is here in Lubbock.

Patrick Mahomes said after finalizing the deal According to Red Raiders.com, more than 12,000 Texas Tech student-athletes are eligible and can enlist their names for a chance to earn a NIL deal.

Patrick Mahomes revealed he could have delayed switching to the NFL if there was NIL during his time in college

The NIL (name, image, and likeness) was always controversial in college football until recently. Many believed athletes earning money in college would not set a good precedent. However, the CFP committee eventually caved in and allowed players to sign NIL deals with brands.

Patrick Mahomes revealed he would have stuck around for his senior year of college football if NIL had been around during his time.

It would have been a good amount of money, especially for Lubbock, Texas. If I would have been able to get NIL, I probably would have stayed for my senior year, and who knows what the rest of my NFL history would have been?

Patrick Mahomes said per the Kansas City Star If Mahomes stayed in college, then the Kansas City Chiefs perhaps would be trophyless without him. Ever since they drafted him in 2017, the Chiefs won three Super Bowls along with multiple AFC titles and are on the verge of securing a three-peat.
