Garth Brooks had what he described as a “humbled” reaction to learning that he will soon be receiving a special career honor.
The country music star is slated to become the newest member of the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, according to a Tuesday, July 16, press release. Brooks, 62, has a decades-long history with the music series, having stepped in to anchor its 25th anniversary celebration years ago. The series is now preparing for its Season 50 premiere on September 28.
A few weeks before the new season kicks off, the “Friends in Low Places” singer will be inducted into the Hall of Fame during a special event on September 5 at ACL Live at The Moody Theater in Austin, Texas. In addition to the induction ceremony, Brooks and his band are expected to perform.
“To be part of anything Austin City Limits is and always has been an honor,” Brooks said in the series’ press announcement about his forthcoming induction ceremony. “I am humbled and grateful to not only be a part of the 50th Anniversary, but to be inducted into the ACL Hall of Fame is over the top.”
The two-time Grammy Award winner reiterated that sentiment when he shared the news with his social media followers on Wednesday, July 17. “Flattered and honored does not begin to cover it,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank you ACL for all you’ve done for me and all you mean to music. love, g.”
The “If Tomorrow Never Comes” singer is with his induction following in the footsteps of music legends such as country star Willie Nelson and blues guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan, who were both inducted during the Hall of Fame’s launch ceremony in 2014. Brooks’ wife, fellow country singer Trisha Yearwood, was also inducted during last year’s ceremony.
