Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was honored in a way that only basketball stars could be: By being immortalized with a life-sized statue of herself made entire from butter
Fans are finding new ways to celebrate Caitlin Clark and what she accomplished in college and the WNBA.
At the Iowa State Fair this week, a life-sized statue of the Hawkeyes legend will be available to be viewed by fairgoers. The kicker? It is made entirely out of butter, making it the second year in a row a statue made of butter has been created for Clark.
The butter statue is just the latest way Iowa is celebrating Clark and how she has impacted basketball in the area. As a member of the Hawkeyes, Clark led Iowa to two national championship games, falling to South Carolina and LSU in back-to-back years.
Clark also set numerous college basketball records wearing a Hawkeyes jersey, such as setting the all-time scoring record. Because of how successful she was during her four years in Iowa, Clark’s jersey was retired, becoming just the third player to have their jersey retired by the university, joining Megan Gustafson and Michelle Edwards.
While Clark is enjoying her off time because of the Olympic Break, the Indiana Fever star joined her teammates Aliyah Boston and Erica Wheeler at the Indiana State Fair to pet some baby goats. As she was petting the goats, many began to circle around her, leading her to proclaim: “Alright, relax, everybody don’t fight over me! Don’t fight over me, OK?”
Even Clark couldn’t believe she was feeding the baby animals. “I’m just like, look at it,” the star said, as she fed two goats. “Look at me, I’m going crazy out there.” At one point, Clark attempted to get Kelsey Mitchell to join in on the fun, with the guard declining to join.

Aside from spending time at the Indiana State Fair, Clark also has spent time in Mexico with her boyfriend Connor McCaffery. Teammates Lexie Hill and Katie Lou Samuelson joined the couple, as the group relaxed before the start of the second half of the 2024 WNBA season.
And while taking time to relax is important for Clark and her teammates, the former was spotted back in the gym in preparation to help the Fever solidify their spot in the playoffs. Back in the Fever’s practice facility sporting a player edition pair of the Nike Kobe 5 Protros, Clark showed off her limited edition sneakers, stating: “It’s pretty cool, I feel like it’s Fever but it’s also Iowa. You get the best of both worlds.
“I have another one that you’ll probably see me wear later on – that is even more Fever, so just wait for that one. But yeah, you got the yellow [and] they look a little similar to the Bruce Lee’s that I wear but still different. I like the gold swoosh. It’s the black and yellow, you can’t go wrong.”
Armed with new sneakers, Clark certainly will be competing to the best of her abilities for the rest of the season after being snubbed from the Olympic team. Although Clark is one of the more tantalizing young players in the league this season, the 22-year-old was omitted from the team, with organizers choosing a more veteran-laden squad for the 2024 Olympic Games.
Legendary coach and three-time Olympic gold medalist Dawn Staley soon backtracked the committee’s decision, claiming Clark certainly will be considered if given another chance. “As a committee member, you’re charged with putting together the best team of players, the best talent,” she said.
“If we had to do it all over again, with the way she’s playing, she would be in really high consideration of making the team because she’s playing head and shoulders above a lot of people. She’s shooting the ball extremely well. She’s an elite passer. She’s just got a great basketball IQ. And she’s a little more seasoned in the pro game than she was two months ago.”
