LA Sparks rookie Cameron Brink is progressing well from the seaon-ending ACL injury she suffered in mid-June, as she was spotted walking without a brace on her injured left knee.
The 22-year-old former Stanford standout posted a video clip of herself in a leather jacket and white shirt while walking unhampered on her way to the Sparks’ game against the Minnesota Lynx on Tuesday at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.
She captioned her post:

No ACL? No prob.
Look guys, no knee brace.
Cameron Brink has missed the Sparks’ last seven games after tearing her ACL against the Connecticut Sun on June 18. She had surgery on her injured left knee days later.
At the time of her injury, the No. 2 overall pick in this year’s WNBA Draft was establishing herself as a key personnel in the rotation, averaging 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and a team-high 2.3 blocks in 15 minutes of play.
Meanwhile, against the Lynx on Tuesday, the Sparks were looking to bounce back after losing 84-78 to the Phoenix Mercury in their previous game.
Dearica Hamby replaces Cameron Brink for Paris Olympics
Apart from seeing her rookie WNBA season cut short, Cameron Brink’s ACL injury cost her Olympic dreams. She was supposed to compete for Team USA’s 3×3 women’s team in the Paris Games beginning later this month but has since been replaced by her LA Sparks teammate Dearica Hamby.
At the 2024 Summer Games, Brink was to join forces with Hailey Van Lith, Rhyne Howard and Cierrea Burdick in the U.S. defending the gold medal. On learning that she made it to the Olympic team, Cameron Brink couldn’t hide her excitement in a video shared by USA Basketball:
“It was absolutely surreal. I was not expecting this whatsoever, but I’ve worked really hard for this. I love the coaches, the committee, everything, so I’m just beyond thankful.
“I’m most excited to be an Olympian. It’s a dream my whole life and the opportunity to win a gold medal, especially with this group. So, you know, I honestly can’t even put it to words. It’s insane.”
Unfortunately for her, her Olympic tour of duty has to wait, as she suffered an ACL injury against the Connecticut Sun in mid-June. But she remains upbeat, looking at the latest episode in her basketball journey as a temporary setback.
Meanwhile, Hamby said that it’s honor to be selected as a replacement for Brink, and that she’s looking forward to playing for the United States. She said in a statement:
“I’m honored to be chosen to represent the Unites States at the Paris Olympics and excited to compete for a gold medal.”At the Paris Games, Team USA is going up against seven other teams: China, France, Germany, Canada, Spain, Azerbaijan and Australia, starting from July 30 to Aug. 5.
