Betrayals in WWE and pro wrestling as a whole can be both the most expected result and, at times, the most shocking moment of the year. Some are months in the making, while others seem to come out of nowhere.
They are all too common, and this means a major heel turn could be on the horizon. More specifically, a top star of some kind could become a villain at the company’s next major premium live event, SummerSlam 2024.
Well over 40,000 fans are expected to be in attendance at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. The audience may end up seeing an unexpected betrayal of some kind, all of which has some merit given recent events or past animosity. This article will look at a handful of turns that may take place at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Below are four unexpected heel turns that could happen at WWE SummerSlam.
#4. Naomi could turn heel on Bayley and cost her the WWE Women’s Championship
The WWE Women’s Championship will be on the line at SummerSlam 2024. The reigning champion Bayley will put her title on the line against one of the most intimidating stars in the women’s division: Nia Jax.
Nia Jax won the 2024 Queen of the Ring tournament to earn her spot against Bayley. To win the tournament, Nia defeated some WWE stars such as Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, Lyra Valkyria, and Bayley’s friend Naomi.
Naomi, however, may shock the world and turn on Bayley, costing her the belt. Both Nia and Naomi are technically part of the real-life Bloodline, and as a result, the pair may have a family bond that is greater than the friendship between The Queen of Glow and The Role Model. This would be a shocker, but it would be entertaining too.
#3. Seth Rollins could shockingly join Drew McIntyre
A massive singles match has been confirmed for WWE SummerSlam 2024. Former world champions will collide when Drew McIntyre and CM Punk go one-on-one for the first time since the Voice of the Voiceless returned to the promotion.
There is an interesting wrinkle in the situation, and that’s Seth Rollins. As announced on WWE RAW, The Visionary is the special guest referee, thanks to the standard officials being targeted by The Scottish Psychopath in recent weeks.
#2. Randy Orton could betray Cody Rhodes
Cody Rhodes is set to have a major match at the big premium live event. He will put his Undisputed WWE Championship on the line once again, but this time his threat may be the most dangerous of all: Solo Sikoa.
The Bloodline is hot on Cody’s heels and has made an impact over the past few weeks. One way they did so was by brutally assaulting Randy Orton. This came after The Viper rushed to help Rhodes, having previously warned the WWE champion that he was going to be ganged up on.
Orton taking the blows for Cody may lead to some issues. The Viper could show up at SummerSlam and shockingly nail The American Nightmare with an RKO and turn heel. Fans would be shocked to see it, but if Randy feels some kind of way about Cody accidentally causing the assault, he may harbor resentment.
#1. Michin could instead be the one who turns on Bayley
As noted, Bayley will defend her WWE Women’s Title against Nia Jax at SummerSlam. While Naomi betraying The Role Model is possible, there is another performer who has recently been united with Bayley, whom the champion should best watch out for.
Michin and Bayley have forged an alliance built on respect but also due to their issues with Tiffany Stratton and Nia Jax. Michin has had Bayley’s back on more than one occasion; however, a heel turn is possible thanks to their past.
Before Bayley turned babyface, she was the leader of Damage CTRL. While leading the dangerous faction, she unleashed pain upon the SmackDown women’s division.
Michin was one of the victims, jumped in the back, and was assaulted. The Blasian Baddie likely remembers this and could be plotting. Her plans could culminate with a heel turn at SummerSlam.
