Gilbert Arenas Doubles Down on Ignorance, Hateful Rhetoric

Former Golden State Warriors guard Gilbert Arenas continues hateful and ignorant rhetoric.

Gilbert Arenas strikes again. The former Golden State Warriors guard commanded attention in his prime with explosive scoring performances. However, in his latter NBA years, a shocking gun controversy shadowed the positive aspects of his game.

Presently, Arenas displays the same immaturity as when he made a gun finger gesture during a pregame huddle after being punished for bringing guns to the Washington Wizards locker room in 2009. In past years, Arenas made light of the people, specifically the women in Flint, Michigan, as they dealt with inhumane water conditions.

Lately, Arenas’ main source of ignorance has been aimed at international players, making light of their living situations or simply suggesting getting “rid of all the Europeans” to improve the NBA.

Instead of realizing the error in his ways or at least not displaying his ignorance to the world, the problematic podcast host doubled down by making unnecessary comments about the Olympics Men’s South Sudan basketball team.

Highly esteemed South Sudan native Luol Deng responded to Arenas but in a classy manner. However, Arenas hasn’t moved on from the debacle, recently firing shots at former ESPN reporter Rob Parker and taking more jabs at South Sudan.

Parker assessed Arenas as thoughtless and lacking accountability.

“This is what happens when rich guys have nothing better to do, so they get a podcast, and people follow them. And they got on and they think they’re so cute and funny, and they can just chastise,” Parker said. “They don’t have to answer to anybody … there’s no parent company. So they can just say whatever they want, and they do a disservice to the people that supposedly they serve, Rob stated.

To no one’s surprise, Arenas reacted to Parker’s remarks by offending a myriad of people and, of course, putting the truck in reverse to crush South Sudan.

“I’m starting to think they’re treating these motherf***ers as some special-ed kids,” he said. “The point is my team versus your team … all I care about did we win or not?” Arenas said after he spent minutes berating Parker with b-words and labeled phrases as “female words, as a means to demean the radio host.

Arenas seemingly hasn’t faced significant backlash for his ignorant comments, but as long as people watch and athletes like Sheryl Swoopes go on his show to support him, who’s to say he is going anywhere?
