3 Country Music Icons Who Love WNBA All-Star Caitlin Clark

Luke Combs

The WNBA, one of America’s fastest-growing sports leagues, recently hosted its annual All-Star game, where Indiana Fever point guard Caitlin Clark took the spotlight as one of the starters. The University of Iowa graduate, who dished out 10 assists in the game, shot to fame by shattering multiple NCAA scoring records, including the most 30-point games by any player, male or female, in Division I over the past 25 seasons.

However, it’s Clark’s surprising ties to some of country music’s biggest stars that have added to her celebrity status. Let’s dive into those connections.

Clark, the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, is a self-proclaimed Luke Combs superfan—and it turns out the admiration is mutual. After Clark was selected first overall, the “Fast Car” singer sent her a personal message: “I just wanted to say congratulations on being the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft. That’s incredible. I know I can speak for everybody all across the United States and the world, probably, that we’ve enjoyed watching you these last couple years, and we can’t wait to continue to do so. So congratulations. You earned it. Can’t wait to see you out there.”

Clark was thrilled by the shout-out, responding, “Luke Combs! That’s my favorite artist of all time. That’s pretty cool. He’s a big women’s basketball fan, so I appreciate him. That’s amazing. I was not expecting that!”

Tim McGraw

Performing In March, country star Tim McGraw took the stage at the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa, wearing a University of Iowa No. 22 jersey, much to the delight of the crowd. A month later, during his performance at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, he kept the tradition alive, this time donning a No. 22 Indiana Fever jersey. McGraw sure knows how to stay consistent!

But that’s not all—after Caitlin Clark broke the all-time NCAA scoring record, McGraw took to Twitter to share his excitement: “Congrats to Caitlin!!! What a fantastic accomplishment… I have to say, as a #girldad, I admit I shed a tear or two watching! Fantastic!”

He later added, “From the NCAA to the WNBA… with a pit stop on SNL in between!! Couldn’t be a bigger fan.”

Zach Bryan

Also in April, country star Zach Bryan shouted out Caitlin Clark while performing in Des Moines at the Wells Fargo Arena, even dedicating a song to her. “This one’s for Caitlin Clark,” he said, before playing the tune “Revival.”
