Simone Biles Fired Back at ‘Disrespectful’ Critics of Her Husband Jonathan Owens

Chicago Bears

In an exclusive interview with US Weekly released on Monday, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens addressed the public backlash he’s faced in the wake of his comments about his wife, Simone Biles.

When talking about his relationship with the all-time great Olympic gymnast on The Pivot podcast in December 2023, Owens referred to himself as “the catch.”

This comment sparked serious outrage and backlash on social media. So much so that it got to the point where Biles felt the need to address the critics with a public statement.

“I’m going to quickly address this, the joke was never a joke! Y’all are blatantly being disrespectful to my relationship and my husband,” Biles wrote on Instagram earlier this year.

“If you keep commenting or tweeting at me I’m just going to block you,” she continued. “Simple as that. And no I don’t need to touch grass or whatever tf y’all suggest…”

In his recent interview with US Weekly, Owens explained how he and Biles attempted to drown out the noise from critics of their relationship.

“Our biggest thing is, we know that those people don’t know us from a can of paint,” he said. “I can’t base how I feel off how another person thinks I’m supposed to be. … Everyone has a voice, but we do a good job of tuning it out. But sometimes you have to express yourself and let people know, like, ‘You’re in the wrong.’”

Owens will support Biles as she represents Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics later this summer.
