Just 24 hours ago, Simone Biles made history-not once, but three times-with a single Olympic medal. Alongside Suni Lee, who took bronze, Biles stormed the Accor Arena and continued Team USA’s golden legacy. The women of Team USA gymnastics have now won six straight Olympic all-around titles, a streak that began with Carly Patterson in 2004, followed by Nastia Liukin in 2008, Gabby Douglas in 2012, Simone Biles in 2016, Suni Lee in 2020, and now Simone Biles again in 2024!
Simone isn’t just racking up medals; she’s rewriting the history books. She became the first U.S. Olympic gymnast to win two all-around golds and broke a 120-year-old record by becoming the only U.S. gymnast with six Olympic gold medals. She also joined the exclusive club of two-time Olympic all-around champions, standing alongside legends Larisa Latynina and Vera Caslavska. This record-breaking night left her husband, Jonathan Owens, in absolute awe.
The Chicago Bears safety Owens traveled over 6,000 miles, despite the ongoing NFL training camp, thanks to some special leeway from his team. But now, the besotted NFL hulk has to head back to his duties. Before leaving, Owens took to Instagram on August 2nd, sharing a snap of his Beam Queen, Simone, and writing, “Greatness I love you so much baby 00 You accomplish whatever you set your mind to, and do it with so much grace. 9 time Olympic medalist and counting!!!! So proud to be your husband
Did Jonathan Owens just prove he’s the ultimate supportive partner? React!
Jonathan Owens has snagged some time off from July 29 to August 3, which means he’ll soon be heading back to the U.S. before Simone Biles aims to rack up more medals at the remaining gymnastics finals. The schedule for the remaining days of gymnastics in Paris is packed with excitement: August 3 kicks off with the women’s vault final, August 4 features the uneven bars final, and August 5 brings a double-header with the balance beam final and the floor exercise final.
The Bears initially thought Owens would be out for a week, but he assured them his Paris getaway would be shorter. Coach Matt Eberflus is all in for this Olympic support mission, saying, “Just because we respect the Olympics. That is a big deal. And he’s just supporting the one he loves the most. And I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that. We welcome that and it’s gonna be awesome. Go USA.”
While Owens has been staying on top of workouts and team meetings remotely, did you know he’s also been melting hearts with postcards from the City of Love, giving both football and gymnastics fans a peek into his Parisian adventure?

Jonathan Owens shared his Paris adventure in a series of postcards to Chicago Bears fans on their official website. On July 31, which was his second day in the French capital, Owens described his excitement of being in Paris, noting his arrival at the city’s iconic Eiffel Tower and his first cheeseburger and fries. At around 4:45 p.m., he made his way to the team final, only to be greeted by the chaotic crowds outside the Bercy Arena.
Navigating through what felt like a maze, he finally took his seat with Simone’s family at 5:30 p.m., eagerly anticipating the competition that was set to start at 6:15 p.m. The pre-competition nerves were palpable, with Owens admitting his anxiety was at a “10.” Sitting with Simone’s mom, Nellie Biles, helped him stay calm as he tried to soothe their shared stress. Owens noticed something amusing: gymnasts from other teams asked for photos with her.
After watching Simone Biles and Team USA win gold in the gymnastics team final at the Paris Olympics, he shared, “I got to witness my wife win a gold medal, so it was amazing that I was able to be there to support her. I’ll never forget that moment.” After the ceremony, Owens and Simone’s family headed to a restaurant to wait for the team. As they stood outside, Owens told Simone’s mom, “Okay, you get your hug and picture first.”
But the moment Simone stepped off the bus, he couldn’t resist rushing to her. “We hadn’t seen each other in weeks. I was just so overjoyed to see her, hug her, and congratulate her,” he said. The reunion was emotional and celebratory, with Simone even encouraging him to wear the gold medal for a photo.
“It was so dope because how many people get to say they held an Olympic gold medal? It’s a lot heavier than you would think,” he chuckled. With Simone preparing for the all-around final on August 1, Owens expressed his anticipation, knowing this event is particularly significant for her. In the meantime, Owens enjoyed more of Paris, visiting the Louvre, where both he and Simone shared their sweet moments on Instagram and he even took a scenic bike tour to the Eiffel Tower.
He also took a moment to thank Bears fans and teammates for their support, noting how much it means to have their encouragement. After the All-Around finals, the Chicago Bears safety shared on Instagram, marveling at his wife’s 6th Olympic gold medal and writing, “The greatest.” Reflecting on Jonathan Owens’ heartfelt behind-the-scenes moments and his sweet note to Simone Biles before heading back to America, what are your thoughts on his touching tribute and their special connection?
