“Honestly, I wasn’t too aware,” Caitlin Clark said while talking about her triple-double. “Everybody was a little confused as to why they were going so nuts over a rebound.” Here’s the thing. WNBA, in its 27 seasons, has just seen 35 triple-doubles. The league is in its 28th season with just four instances. But that’s not where it ends!
No Indiana Fever player ever attained it until Clark! And how long did it take the rookie to achieve this? Just 22 games. No doubt, Rebecca Lobo was happy to see how well Clark has been doing. But when the analyst virtually applauded this achievement, Angel Reese’s fans looked a bit upset.
On X, Lobo wrote, “There have been a lot of rookies since 1997,” and she shared the video from the official WNBA page capturing the historic moment. But this is not the first time Rebecca Lobo has advocated Clark’s cause. On her recent snub from the Olympic team, the 1995 national champion commended her overall talent. Further, Lobo opined that she is going to be “a multi-time Olympian” in upcoming years.
If all this wasn’t enough, the analyst has also nicknamed Clark a “tsunami” due to the massive popularity surge brought by the 6-foot-guard.
After being agonizingly close to a triple-double on multiple occasions, Caitlin Clark was finally able to achieve it in the Indiana Fever’s 83-78 victory over the New York Liberty. The rookie finished the evening with 19 points, 13 assists, and 12 rebounds. This not only makes it Fever’s first triple-double but also a first for a rookie to attain in the league’s history. But not everyone is happy…
Angel Reese’s fans accuse Rebecca Lobo of “selective” praise!
Rebecca Lobo was soon at the receiving end of several accusations after her tweet. One of them was that she was being selective and only admired Caitlin Clark. Evidently, Chicago rookie Angel Reese pulled off a 12th consecutive double-double and equaled Candace Parker’s record in her previous encounter against the Seattle Storm.
On top of that, she also delivered a career-high 27 points. Failing to see Lobo spare a thought or two on that, one fan wrote, “Where was this energy when angel got 10 consecutive double-doubles? your a joke Rebecca.” Another wrote, “Rebecca your selectiveness is very loud if you haven’t noticed.”
Well, in that case, let us look at two of Reese’s new achievements in WNBA:
The Chicago Sky rookie became the fastest player in WNBA history to record 250 points, 200 rebounds, and 30 steals since 1999.
Angel Reese set a new WNBA record and registered her 13th consecutive double-double. Interestingly, she did this just a day after Clark’s triple-double achievement (With this, Reese broke Candace Parker’s record).
The 3x All-American forward Angel Reese is currently leading the league in rebounds. Her record-breaking show at the Climate Pledge Arena helped her take the summit position from Aces’ kingpin A’ja Wilson. Therefore, one enthusiastic supporter of hers believes that she can repeat something similar. The comment read, “Don’t worry, Angel will do it next game. But it’s probably going to be 15 pts, 11 AST, and 91 REB.”

Angel Reese has had her fair share of history this season. Not only has she equaled Candace Parker’s tally, but on the 10th occasion when she went past the double-double mark, she became the only rookie to achieve this feat. Still, it wasn’t enough to evoke any reactions from Lobo? Frustrated by this, another of Reese’s supporters wrote, “Did you show @Reese10Angel the same love when she made history??? Or did the @chicagosky jersey blind you once again?”
However, how true is this notion that Lobo did not talk about Reese? Well, when the analyst got to know about Reese’s 13th double-double, she had just one word to say. “Incredible.”
In the meantime, some were even curious about the cryptic nature of Lobo’s post. One X user asked the 50-year-old, “Do you have anything to add to that, or are you just going to leave that generic sort of compliment?”
Surely the narrative receives both sets of views. While some are celebrating Clark’s accomplishments, others feel that it’s not such a big deal. It will be interesting to see what else follows this classic rivalry between both of these spectacular rookies, who have been in a one-up battle against each other all through the season.
