LeBron James’ priceless reaction to Steph Curry’s lob for his viral alley-oop dunk: “Two guys trying to share to each other (Credit: USA Basketball/Instagram)
The world had a glimpse of what’s to come for Team USA in the Olympics in an exhibition display versus Canada, which also is full of NBA talents. Beyond the 86-72 result in favor of the Americans, James’ alley-oop dunk from Curry’s lob pass was the biggest highlight of the night.
Here’s a look of Curry’s viral alley-oop to James:
James addressed the dunk after the game, downplaying the moment and keeping their heads in their true Olympic objective.
“We love to play the game of basketball and try to share to each other. … He was able to connect with me on the lob. It’s fun.
“We play the game at a high level, but more importantly, we just play the game that we love the right way, and that’s the result of it,” James said in his postgame interview with FOX Sports.
James said so in front of Curry, who also played his first game with the Team USA since 2014. Meanwhile, James last played for the national team in the 2012 London Olympics.
It was also the two’s first team-up after years of battles in the NBA finals. Curry beat James for the NBA championship three of four Finals.
Now, James, 39, and Curry, 36, stand as the leaders of Team USA, which also features the likes of NBA superstars Kevin Durant, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum and Devin Booker.
Versus Canada, LeBron James finished with seven points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals, while Steph Curry added 12 points and three assists, including the viral alley-oop dunk.
LeBron James to play point forward, while Steph Curry off the ball in Team USA
As seen in their first exhibition game, Team USA will deploy LeBron James as the point forward, while putting Steph Curry off the ball for the Paris Olympics.
In a report by The Athletic, James will be the lead playmaker, while Curry will be roaming the floor to look for his shots via catch-and-shoot looks that would tap on his movement shooting.
LeBron James was the starting power forward against Canada, while Curry was the starting guard. However, James was mostly the one playmaking, thriving in a hybrid role in 19 minutes on the floor.
Steph Curry, meanwhile, shot six threes and made three. The former NBA MVP overall attempted seven shots as Team USA looked to maximize Curry’s 3-point shooting prowess.
